FAQ

Can't find your answer here? Send us a message below.

What do I need to bring to sign up?

Bring your ID, your bank details and your phone, because you sign the debit-order mandate on your phone. For a Student membership, also bring a valid student card. You'll pay the R120 joining fee plus your first month on the day. The full list is under How to join.

For training, bring a sweat towel and clean gym shoes. For boxing, bring your own hand wraps and gloves. Glove hire TBC

What do I pay on the day I sign up?

The R120 joining fee plus your first month, paid at the counter. On Silver over 12 months that's R619. After that, your debit order only ever takes the monthly fee.

When does my debit order go off?

It goes off on the 1st or the 25th of each month, whichever you choose at sign-up. On new contracts, a returned (unpaid) debit order carries a R150 admin fee, so please let us know early if your bank details change.

How do I get into the gym?

With your membership card plus your fingerprint. Both are registered when you join. Your joining fee includes one card. A replacement card has to be bought Price TBC, and you'll need photo ID to link it to your membership.

Do I need a medical check before I start?

No medical is needed, but everyone fills in the PAR-Q, a short standard health questionnaire, when they sign up. If you answer "yes" to any question, speak to your doctor before you become much more active.

Can I freeze my membership?

Yes. If you're injured, travelling or need a break, ask the front desk to freeze your membership. The months you freeze are added to the end of your contract, so you don't lose them.

Freeze fees, minimum and maximum periods TBC

How do I cancel, and what does it cost?

Give us 20 business days' written notice, as the Consumer Protection Act requires. If you cancel before your fixed term ends, a cancellation fee of 30% of the remaining contract value applies, plus anything you owe.

Paid upfront and need to cancel early? You get the unused part back, less the same 30% fee. We'll show you the full calculation before anything is final.

What happens when my contract ends?

Your membership carries on month to month at your monthly fee. You can cancel any time after that without a cancellation fee. If prices change after your term, you'll get 40–80 business days' notice first.

Can men train between 08:00 and 10:00?

No. From Monday to Friday, 08:00–10:00 is ladies only. The gym is open to everyone from 05:00 to 08:00 and from 10:00 to 20:00.

Are classes included?

Yes. Group classes are included in every package. Power Club boxing is included in Silver, Gold and Student + Boxing. The sauna and steam room are included in Gold, and in the upfront Sauna & steam plan.

Do you sell day passes or a free trial?

Day passes, a free trial and their prices TBC. In the meantime, the shortest option is the upfront one-month plan at R500, and you're welcome to come in for a look around first.

Can I bring a guest?

Guests pay a guest fee, or hand in a valid guest pass, before they come in. Guest fee TBC

Can under-18s join?

A parent or legal guardian has to sign the membership agreement with anyone under 18. Minimum age TBC

Gym rules & etiquette

Respect the floor

A few simple rules keep the gym safe, clean and fair for everyone. They come from our membership agreement.

Re-rack your weights

Put weights, dumbbells and barbells back where they belong, and don't drop equipment.

Wipe it down

Wipe equipment down after you use it, so it's clean for the next person.

Towel, always

A sweat towel is required at all times on the floor.

Dress to train

Clean training clothes and shoes. Nobody trains barefoot.

Share the kit

At busy times, use a machine for 15 minutes at most, and don't reserve machines or weights.

Ladies hours

Weekdays 08:00–10:00 the gym is for women only. Gents train from 05:00 to 08:00 and from 10:00.

Ask first

New to a machine? Ask for instruction before you use it.

No food on the floor

The rules say no food or drink on the gym floor. Water bottles TBC

Outside trainers

Bringing your own personal trainer needs the gym's permission first. Policy TBC

Guests

Guests pay a guest fee, or hand in a valid guest pass, before they come in. Guest fee TBC

Sauna & steam times

The sauna and steam room close 15 minutes before the gym does.

Train clear-headed

No training under the influence of alcohol, or of medication that makes exercise unsafe. No weapons, and no pets except guide dogs.

Breaking the rules can mean being refused entry or losing your membership. Any rule changes go up on the notice board first.

Since 2019

More than a gym

Since we opened in 2019, our aim has been to build a space that goes beyond a traditional fitness centre, one that empowers every member to reach their highest fitness potential.

We offer a range of programmes and group classes, and our team works to build a supportive community that encourages accountability, camaraderie and success. Ask about one-on-one training and nutrition guidance at the front desk.

At Power Ultra, we don't just transform bodies; we transform lives.
